- Riehen. A quick tram ride from Basel to this gorgeous town at the foot of the Black Forest mountains.
- Fondation Beyler (@ Riehen): the architect Renzo Piano' building which holds a collection of Picassos and other masters of modern art is famous for the beauty of the building and how it fits in the peaceful surroundings in Riehen. Hosts several "short" exhibitions.
- Vitra Campus (@ Weil am Rhein, Germany): The Vitra Design Museum was designed by Frank Gehry (the architect who designed the famous Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, Spain and also the Novartis HR building in the Novartis Campus in Basel). The VitraHaus (the big building with furniture and lamps) was designed by the Basler architects Herzog & de Meuron who also designed the "Bird's nest" in Beijing.
- Kunstenumesum. Don't miss the The Burghers of Calais by Rodin at the entrance. And don't miss the usually excellent "short" exhibitions.
- Museum Tinguely
- Basler Papiermühle/Schweizer Papiermuseum 
- Basel Zoo
- Tierpark Lange Erlen, is an awesome park @ walk distance from the German Railway Station (Badischer Bahnhof)
- Marketplatz, the Rathaus (City Hall) and its market, specially on Saturday morning
- Spalenberg and it's cool shops
- City Cathedral, the Munster. And cross the Rhine river by boat to KleinBasel.
- Rhine river. And cross the river on the small boats.
- A walk by the Rheine at dust
- A walk @ St-Alban
- A drink @ Les Trois Rois by the Rhine

- Mariastein Benedictine Monastery (read more here). Reachable by tram #10 from Basel to Flüh.
- Augusta Raurica. It is the oldest Roman settlement on the Rhine.
